When you want to host a special event you need a unique location. Iceland is the perfect place for such an event, combining the great location, good logistics, unique venues, beautiful nature and exciting landscape. In the country side, you have the better chance to experience the magnificent Northern Lights in winter and in summer, the amazingly bright and quiet nights are exceptional – summer and winter are very different seasons, but both fascinating and charming.

If incorporating more nature and tranquility to an upcoming event, there are numbers of hotels to choose from outside of Reykjavik, some only 1 -1,5 hours.away from the city.

Hótel Grímsborgir, a 4* hotel, is situated in South Iceland in calm and beautiful surroundings and within a short distance to some of Iceland’s most popular sights and tourist attractions – actually directly at the famous Golden Circle tourist route

It is a 45-minute drive from the capital Reykjavík and a 90-minute drive from the International Airport in Keflavík. It is the perfect setting for all kinds of celebrations and social gatherings.

The hotel has a large and bright meeting room which is equipped with a projector and screen, a flip chart, a sound system as well as access to high-speed internet. For meetings paper and pens are provided. The meeting room can be divided into two smaller rooms or used as a big one.

Hótel Grímsborgir offers accommodation in 28 superior rooms, 4 studio apartments, and 5 deluxe apartments for altogether 130 guests. The deluxe apartments have 4 bedrooms and are fully-equipped with a large kitchen, dining room, fireplace, lounge area with a TV, and a porch with barbecue facilities and an outdoor hot tub. The studio apartments have 2 bedrooms, a kitchenette and a living room with tv. Some have private hot tubs. The superior rooms are spacious with a private bathroom, a terrace and access to outside hot tubs. There are  6 accessible rooms  which meet all requirements for our guests with special needs.

The brand new and very nice restaurant with a broad a la carte menu with both Icelandic and international dishes has seats for 200 guests and in the summer it is possible to sit on the beautiful terrace. The restaurant was just opened in July 2014 and as been popular from the first day.

The hotel is situated far away from light pollution and is therefore the perfect place to experience the spectacular Northern Lights! This nature phenomenon, also called Aurora Borealis, only occurs during the winter months along the Arctic Circle. The unique coloured lights appear at the night sky when highly charged electrons from the solar wind interact with elements in the earth’s atmosphere. Although it is never certain, when the Northern Lights will appear the chances from October – March are high and during winter it is really an unique experience to relax in one of our hot tubs while gazing at the stars and the fascinating Northern Lights.
