Apotek Kitchen and Bar

This is a new and exciting restaurant located in one of the most beautiful and historic buildings right in the heart of the city. The late 19th-century building that now houses Apotek is actually one of the first large concrete buildings in Iceland and for decades was where the state pharmacist oversaw the city´s pharmacy, thus the name of the restaurant. Apotek has a casual and smart air about it. Here you can enjoy delicious food in a vibrant atmosphere and stylish surroundings.

The menu is a fun combination of Icelandic and European cuisine prepared on a smoking hot Argentinean grill. Dishes are designed to share and enjoy together. Apotek is probably the only restaurant in Iceland with its own pastry chef, Axel Thorsteinsson, the sweet guru behind Apotek’s inspired desserts, macaroons and chocolates. At Aptoek´s lively cocktail bar, award winning “pharmacists” mix together exciting artisan cocktails to suit every mood; painkillers, stimulants, tranquillizers and even placebos.
