Hunting
Iceland is certainly better known for its fishing than for hunting opportunities, but there is more for the international sportsman than just catching salmon and trout. Hunting is a relatively new sport in Iceland, and it only recently became an attraction for visitors. Iceland has geese, ptarmigan, duck, cormorant, shag, guillemot and many other species of birds. It is even possible to join up with locals for a day or two of reindeer hunting and doing so is a unique way to get into direct contact with our amazing nature. Hunting permits can be arranged, but to get one, one must present a valid hunting license from one´s country of citizenship to the Icelandic police. Hunters may also import their own firearms. Experienced guides can be made available. Note: Remember to check the various hunting seasons when planning your trip.
