GOLF TOUR TO ICELAND

in the Midnight Sun Season, June & July

Experience the unique bright summer nights of Iceland and play golf at midnight!

Option: Participate in the Arctic Open Midnight Sun Golf Tournament in Akureyri, around June 21 every year.

After checking in at your hotel you have some time to explore Reykjavik, relax after your journey and have dinner at one of the city´s excellent gourmet restaurants.

DAY 2 Akureyri Town

After breakfast your guide takes you to the domestic airport for your flight to Akureyri. After checking in at your hotel, you have the opportunity to take a walk around this charming town. If you are interested in meeting the locals, a nearby farmer is happy to welcome you to his farm, show you around and let you taste some delicious homemade icecream. Even though the town is small, there are a range of excellent restaurants to choose from for dinner

DAY 3 Mývatn Lake and Nature Baths

Mývatn is a spectacular lake internationally renowned for its otherworldly volcanic formations and rich birdlife. Here you can see pseudo craters, amazing lava formations, geothermal hot springs and a variety of bird species that breed on the lake. After we have done some light hikes and enjoyed the beautiful nature, we head off for a soothing bath in the natural water of Myvatn´s Nature Baths.c

Tonight is the first night at the golf club and hopefully the bright midnight sun will be shining above.

If you are attending the Open Arctic Golf Tournament June 22th-25th June, http://www.arcticopen.is/ you are cordially invited to a reception this evening where you get to meet your fellow participants. Perhaps you will even get a chance to play a few holes on the course.

DAY 4 Golf at Midnight

You´d probably like to have a late breakfast and enjoy a relaxed day, after all you want to be at your best when playing golf during the night! But if you are up to it, you can choose to have a short excursion around Akureyri or go to the local swimmingpool. After dinner, we head to the golf course. You play at your own pace for your enjoyment, but if you are in the tournament there is always some competition in good company!

DAY 5 Another Night Out – at the Golf Course

Perhaps you might like to take it easy durning the day, but there is of course the option to go on a day tour to one of the many interesting places around Akureyri. Whale watching, river rafting, sea angling, horse back riding are just some of the exciting and fun activities on offer. After dinner we go to the golf course, either to continue playing in the tournament or simply to enjoy a nice night out playing golf under the amazing Midnight Sun !

DAY 6 Leaving Akureyri

Around noon we leave for Reykjavik. You can either take the fast way and fly or, if you are ready for a real adventure, we suggest you drive to the city in a 4-wheel jeep with an experienced driver at the wheel. The journey takes you across the rugged interior highland and you overnight on the way at a lovely country hotel. If you go directly to Reykjavik, you have the whole day to explore the city and choose from one of the gourmet restaurants for dinner.

Day 7 Adventurous Day

Today there is an option to take a tour inside an actual volcano and afterwards go to the famous Blue Lagoon spa. At the spa´s Lava Restaurant an award-winning chef will be only too happy to surprise you with some culinary magic if you feel like staying on for dinner.

Day 8 Time to Say Goodbye

Your private pick-up is 2,5 hours before the departure of your scheduled flight.
