Snowmobile Tours

Those that have tried snowmobiling on a glacier say that nothing beats this experience and unique way of exploring Arctic wonderlands. Snowmobiling is mostly done on two of Iceland´s glaciers. One is Myrdalsjokull, where the ice cap covers one of Iceland´s largest volcanoes, Katla, conveniently located for those that are exploring the south coast heading towards Vik, Reynisfjara and the Glacier Lagoon. The scenic fun ride, experiencing the wilderness, is further added to by the breathtaking views over South Iceland, providing stunning photo opportunities in good weather. The other glacier is Iceland´s second largest, Langjokull, which in fact is several enormous ice-filled volcanic craters, framed by imposing volcanoes and set in the breathtaking Icelandic interior. The view from the glacier flanks of Langjokull are staggering!

For those who are travelling the Golden Circle or want to visit Husafell, Barnafoss and/or Hraunfossar the base for the snowmobile tours is right next door. Before the start of each tour, travellers are briefed, geared up in warm overalls or a snow-suit plus helmets and the guides take them through safety procedures. Driving a snowmobile is not complicated – it´s just a matter of either squeezing on the accelerator or the brake, -but note, the law requires you hold a valid car driving license.
